Forrester
Carlos serves technology architecture and delivery (TAD) professionals. His research includes artificial intelligence for IT operations (AIOps), Observability, digital experience monitoring (DEM), application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, cloud monitoring and the use of OpenTelemetry in these areas. Additionally, and as related to his areas of research, he'll also dive into automation, infrastructure management, and configuration management databases (CMDBs). Carlos' decades of experience as a practitioner in a wide array of operational and risk management disciplines gives him a unique ability to provide broad, perspective-based guidance.
Previous Work Experience
Carlos has been delivering positive business outcomes and leading technology-based change since 1990. Carlos began his career as a hardware design engineer for a real-time live image processing firm before cofounding an object-oriented analysis and design consultancy servicing Fortune 100 organizations. He then joined MetLife as a director of IT, where he led initiatives in areas such as ITIL, IT service management (ITSM), service asset and configuration management (SACM/CMDB), enterprise architecture, portfolio management, IT risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery, IT application security, and large-scale enterprise project management.
After 12 years with MetLife, Carlos founded Casanova Advisory Services, an executive advisory consultancy. For 13 years before joining Forrester, he advised executives and senior leaders across the globe in all manners of their operations with the sole focus on ensuring that their initiatives delivered positive business outcomes. He served foreign and domestic clients across industries including retail, manufacturing, higher education, government, financial services, insurance, utilities, and medical and healthcare. He is the coauthor of The CMDB Imperative, a book that broke open new ways of thinking for operational data management.

Carlos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
